It's Deja Vu! Below is a clip from my interview with Chris Ingram in October 2018 about All for Transportation's 2018 rail tax boondoggle.
2010, 2014, 2016 (did not get on ballot due to Go Hillsborough scandal), 2018 and now 2022. The same wealthy donor class cronies keeps pushing rail tax boondoggles on taxpayers that will greatly benefit them. They and their rail activist allies are at it again in 2022.
The entire 2018 interview with Chris Ingram can be found here starting at about 23:45. It's as timely today as it was in 2018.
Record revenues are flooding the County (more to come about that) and this latest 30 year ONE PERCENT $18 BILLION rail tax is unnecessary and absurd. Over half of the $18 BILLION tax will be spent in the city of Tampa that only has one-third the population of Hillsborough County.
The AFT tax was ruled unlawful and illegal and was thrown out by the Florida Supreme Court. AFT's illegal rail tax has caused almost $600 MILLION of illegal tax funds to be collected that must be refunded to the taxpayers.
Beware! Those who supported the 2018 rail tax, that includes the Tampa Centric 5 democrat county commissioners - Overman, Smith, Myers, Cohen and Smith - claim the rail tax on the November ballot is basically the same as the illegal 2018 rail tax. (It's actually worse.)
Wealthy donors, elected officials and bureaucracies who support unlawful tax hike referendums cannot be trusted. They helped to create the $600 MILLION refund issue.
Hillsborough County deserves much better than having people who support illegal and unethical activity in any elected office. Remember in November those on the ballot who supported AFT's illegal rail tax in 2018.
Vote against them, vote them out and Vote NO on the rail tax.
